Meet Our Staff
Staff members of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors.
Billy Coner is a lifelong resident of Nancy and he graduated from Nancy High School in 1970. He is married to Cathy Pitman Coner and they have one daughter, Heather Coner. Billy is one of nine children of the late Ed and Beulah Beshears Coner. He has been with Lake Cumberland Funeral Home since its foundation; he serves on the Board of Directors and enjoys working with the families. Billy also enjoys spending time with his family and friends and tending to his farm. He worked several years at Tecumseh and is a former deputy coroner. Billy is a lifelong member of Hopeful Baptist Church, where he serves as song leader.
Funeral Director & Embalmer
Tom Dick is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. He served as a Deputy coroner for many years in Pulaski County. He was raised in Detroit, Michigan, where he graduated from Wayne State University in 1974 with a Bachelorʼs degree in Mortuary Science. He served as a Medical Examiner Technician and Investigator for many years in Wayne County, Michigan. He enjoys hunting, fishing and living the country life on his farm in King Bee. Tom attends Saint Mildredʼs Catholic Church.
Chris Lange and his wife Susan have been residents of Somerset since 1998. Chris is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer and he graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago in 1987. Chris and Susan has four children; Sarah, Andrea, Alex, and Will Lange. Chris is a member of First Baptist Church and his wife Susan has been a 2nd Grade Teacher at Somerset Christian School for many years. Chris enjoys watching University of Kentucky sports, hiking, and spending time with his family.
Funeral Home Staff
Phillip has been employed at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home for nearly five years. He helps to fill many roles including taking care of the building and grounds. Phillip was born and raised in the Shopville area, graduating from Shopville High School in 1972. He is married to Patti Renner Harris; she is a retired bookkeeper from Southern Elementary School. Phillip is retired from the Pulaski County School system after working there for over thirty one years. He enjoys living in the country and spending weekends at his “Blue Moose” cabin and farm, where he raises cattle. Phillip has two children; Derrick (and Sherri) Harris and Kimberly Harris; two granddaughters; Taylor Harris of Nashville, TN and Kennedy Harris of Somerset, who he loves to watch play basketball at Southwestern; and a grandson, Rhett Harris. Phillip attends Flat Lick Baptist Church.
Funeral Home Staff
Anthony Gaines was born and raised in Somerset and is a 1977 Somerset High School graduate. He has been with the funeral Home for over four years. He is a 27-year Veteran of the United States Army and has served in Iraq. He is also retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department after working there for thirty years. He enjoys riding his Victory motorcycle with his friends. He currently operates the kitchen for the Pulaski County Detention Center. Anthony is one of seven children of Robert and Beulah Gaines. He has one daughter; Natalie Chanel Smith. He loves working with people and always has a welcoming smile on his face.
Chairman of the Board
David Casada is a lifelong resident of Pulaski County, having been raised in the Bronston and Frazer areas. He owned and operated Daveʼs Grocery in Bronston for twenty years. He was also an auctioneer and realtor. David has been with Lake Cumberland Funeral Home since its inception in 1998. He handles various responsibilities, including being Chairman of the Board for the Funeral Home. He enjoys golfing, gardening, playing Bluegrass, Gospel and Old County music. He is married to Barbara Thornton Casada. They have four children; Greg Casada, Kelley Richardson, Kevin Welchance and Amy McKinney. He is the grandfather to five wonderful grandchildren. David and Barbara are faithful members of Liberty Baptist Church in Kidder, KY.
Melissa Bellamy Garner
Funeral Home Staff
Melissa Bellamy Garner was born and raised in Nancy, KY, and is a 1986 graduate of Pulaski County High School. She is the daughter of Hazel Bellamy and the late Bill Bellamy. Melissa was married to the late Craig Garner of Nancy and has two children; twins, Stuart and Hannah Garner. Melissa assists with visitation and funerals and enjoys helping the families. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Brenda Bray Nelson
Bookkeeper/Funeral Home Staff
Brenda Bray Nelson was raised in Burnside and a graduate of Burnside High School of 1970. She has been with Lake Cumberland Funeral Home for fifteen years as a greeter and bookkeeper. She is a lifelong resident of Pulaski County and is the daughter of the late Nina Bray and Hayden Bray. Brenda is married to Frankie Nelson, who is also a lifelong Somerset resident. Brenda is retired from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, after being employed for thirty three years. In her spare time she enjoys reading. Brenda is a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.
