Kelly Pyles Smith Whitaker, age 50, of Eubank, Ky., passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Kelly was born on April 19, 1968 in Somerset, Ky., to the late Wilburn and Marlene Ridener Pyles. She enjoyed cooking, camping, kayaking, four-wheeling, fishing, and she loved being outdoors. Kelly loved to laugh and she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a beautiful, kind, and caring soul.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Whitaker, whom she married on April 14, 2018 in Somerset, Ky.; one son, Tyler (and Lynzie) Smith of Somerset, Ky.; one daughter, Morgan (and Josh) Johnson of Somerset, Ky.; two step-daughters, Amber and Jenna Whitaker, both of Eubank, Ky.; six grandchildren, Ty Smith, Carson Smith, Kyson Smith, Brinley Smith, Eli Johnson, and Emmalyn Johnson; four sisters, Wanda (and Butch) Kenney of Carmel, In.; Patty Webb of Somerset, Ky.; Debbie (and Clinton) Mapes of Fishers, In.; and her twin sister, Shelly (and James) Taylor of Somerset, Ky.; her mother-in-law, Burnidean Whitaker of Shopville, Ky.; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends who she loved with all of her heart.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald “Bo” Pyles.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will be at White Lily Cemetery.
