Orlena Ruth Lequire, age 83, of Nancy, KY passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab.
Ruth was born on June 22, 1934 in Rose Hill, Virginia to the late Leonard Cheek and Vashti Williams Dean Cheek. She was an owner of Mandy’s Supermarket. Ruth was a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Somerset.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Ruth (and Robert Lee) Maloney of Fairfield, OH and Cynthia Ann (and Terry) Ries of Nancy, KY; three brothers, James (and Pat) Cheek of Texas, Melvin (and Mary) Cheek of Texas and Oscar (and Janet) Cheek of Cynthiana, KY; three sisters, Joan (and Joe) Biancke of FL, Carrie (and Robert) Gordy of Stamping Ground, KY and Betty Martin of Cynthiana, KY; seven grandchildren, Marsha (and Ron) Frost, Paul (and Elaina) Maloney, Sean (and Brittany) Maloney, Jeff (and Mallory) Maloney, Amanda (and James) Cox, Ryan (and Jamie) Ries and Ian Ries; twelve great grandchildren, Bryan (and Rachel) Frost, Travis Frost, Julia Frost, Ashleigh Maloney, Addison Maloney, Alivia Maloney, Carson Cox, Kaden Ries, Carter Cox, Rosa Maloney, Kinsley Ries and Layla Maloney; and one great-great grandson, Michael Frost.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Shellie Eugene Lequire, Jr., who preceded her on November 18, 2013; two brothers, Harold Cheek and Lowell Cheek; and one sister, Mildred “Mickey” Nickerson.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will follow on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Branch President Mike Goleman officiating and Eulogy by Paul George. Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery.
