Lillian Wright Hargis, age 102, of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Monday, January 9, 2017.
Lillian Wright Hargis was born on July 11, 1914 in the Goodwater Community, KY, to the late John Wesley and Sarah Isabelle Meece Wright. Lillian was saved and baptized at a young age. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member and attended services as long as her health permitted. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, gardening, and painting.
She is survived by a son, Ellis Wayne (and Karen) Hargis of Ingle, KY; four daughters, Elaine Hargis Simpson of Burgin, KY, Juanita Wesley of Somerset, Elizabeth Hansford of Somerset, Judy (and Doug) Silvers of Somerset; a daughter in-law, Lola Hargis of Nancy, KY; eleven grandchildren, Jerry Simpson, Terry Hargis, Sherry Pierce, Jerold Wesley, Michael Wesley, Darien Hargis, Beth Prater, Dexter Silvers, Scott Hansford, Travis Hansford, and Leslie Cummins; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Hargis, whom she married on August 2, 1930, and preceded her on April 13, 1982; a son, Tassel A. Hargis, an infant daughter, Yvonne Hargis; four brothers, Vester, Lee, Ped, and Steven Wright; five sisters, Mary Langford, Estelle Edwards, Carly Snell, Beulah Wright, and Elva Wright; and three son in-laws, Homer Wesley, Gary Hansford, and Ray Simpson.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Rev. Don Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Burial will be in the Whetstone Cemetery.
Donations in Lillian’s memory may be made to the Whetstone Cemetery or to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
