Kermit Leonard Goins, age 76, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at his residence.
Kermit was born on November 27, 1941 in Jellico, TN to the late Emerald Kenneth Goins and Elizabeth Allen Goins. He was a retired mechanic from Southern Tire, where he worked forty years. Kermit also worked as a Security officer at Pulaski County High School. He was retired from the Army National Guard having served twenty years. Kermit enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and he especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Upton Goins, whom he married on May 15, 1959 in Goldbug, KY; two daughters, Chandra Elyse (and Danny) Honaker of Somerset and Cassandra Goins (and Jaysuma) Simms of Ooltewah, TN; two sisters, Barbara Goins of Lexington and Bertha Mae Goins of New York City; four grandchildren, Deandrea Rico (and Salima) Perkins, Jeremiah Honaker, Alauna Jae Simms and Jayde Simms; six great-grandchildren, Isaiah Perkins, Sydney Perkins, Stone Perkins, Nehemiah Honaker, Byron Honaker and Hezekiah Honaker; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dudley Goins and Kenneth Goins; and one sister Helen Lee.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will follow on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Rev. James Bartleson officiating. Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
