Kenneth Decker, age 83, of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.

Kenneth was born on December 12, 1933 in Bronston, KY to the late Effie Mae and Huey Frank Decker, and was one of eight children to their union.  He married Betty Jean Taylor Decker on October 8, 1954 in Rossville, GA.  He was a master plumber and electrician which he worked at for several years at Albertson Electric.    He was inducted into the Army in 1954 and spent 19 months in Germany.  He later returned to work at Albertson Electric.  He left there to go to South KY RECC as a State Certified Electrical Inspector.  While at South KY RECC he started the Electrical Inspection Program and later helped other Co-ops start inspection programs.  He was president of the Kentucky Chapter of the National Electrical Inspector Association for two terms.  Kenneth was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, a training union teacher and chairman of the building committee.  In 1984, Kenneth purchased Area Plumbing & Electric Supply and operated it for 10 years before retiring.  At his death he was an equal partner in South Midway Supply and a Landlord.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Decker, to whom he was married for 62 years; a daughter, Yvonne Kim (and Rick) Bolton; and a granddaughter, Alexandria Lee Bolton (and Jake) Shaffer of Lexington.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Loraine Decker, Gladys Albertson, Geneva Norfleet and Addie Nicholas; and three brothers, Herstel Decker, Hue Decker and Carl Decker.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 9, 2107 after 6:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Haynes officiating.  Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery.  Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
