Juanita Anderson Coffey, age 85, of Somerset, KY, departed this life on January 26, 2017 at her residence.
Juanita was born on December 4, 1931, in Harlan County, KY, to the late Milden and Eunice Thornton Anderson. Juanita was a member of Davis Chapel A.M.E., where she served with pride as a member of the Stewardess Board, Trustee Board, Church Secretary, and Conference Delegate. She retired from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after 52 years of service as an LPN/Surgical Tech.
She was known throughout the community as G.G., Granny, or Ms. Juanita. She never met a stranger and opened her doors to anyone in need. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Cornell Coffey II (and Cheri) of Nancy, KY, and Kenneth M. Coffey (and Katrina) of Somerset; her daughter, Terri L. Reynolds-Hardwick of Somerset; a brother, George L. Anderson (and Gwen) of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Arneice Hollowell of Paducah, KY, and Myrtle Anderson of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Cornell “Mouse” Coffey III, James Thomas “JT” Coffey, Jessica Hancock, Sam Turner, Brittney Wade, Kenneka Coffey, Olivia Coffey, Dawnita M. Morrow, Tristan Coffey, Tonya K. Allen (and Lonnie), Ena L. Compton, Jon R. Reynolds, Jason B. Reynolds, Jessica Hunter, and Jordan Hunter; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a nephew who is like a son, Douglas Barnes; a very special friend, Hossain Fallazadeh; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and others who called her Granny and G.G.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, Cornell E. Coffey; a daughter, Burnita A. Anderson; a grandson, Joshua Reynolds; two brothers, James and Henry Anderson; three sisters, Jessie Jackson, Helen Dupree, and Bobbie Holts; and a special friend, Theodore Gibbons.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 30, 2017 after 6:00pm and on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Rev. Everhart Walker officiating. Burial will be in Somerset City Cemetery.
