Glenn Dawes, age 89, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at his residence.

Glenn was born on December 16, 1927 in Nancy, KY to the late Warren Dawes and Nellie B. (Sumpter) Fulcher.  He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  Glenn was a retired Foreman for South Kentucky RECC where he worked for over 30 years.  He was a Veteran of the United States Navy.  Glenn loved fishing, hunting and bird watching.

He is survived by one son, Randall “Randy” (and Vonda) Dawes of Science Hill; three daughters, Glenda (and Russell) Dawes Jones of Somerset, Patricia Dawes Casada of Somerset and Linda Gail Dawes (and Donald) Smith of Oneida, TN; two brothers, James Fulcher and Roy Dawes; six sisters, Peggy Ressor, Rose Reeves, Lorraine Martin, Faye Tarter, Shirley Wilson and Bernice Dezarn; grandchildren, Mark Jones, Matthew Jones, Jarrod Dawes, Matthew Dawes, Thomas Dawes, Keith Blake, Aislynn Frei, Angela Watson, Rebecca Thompson and Brandi King; great grandchildren, Kylie Watson, Christian Dawes, Addilynn Frei, Ashtynn Frei, Daxton Frei, Erin Jones, Kameron Blake, Zoey Blake, Bellamie Thompson, Brandon Thompson and Gracie Faith King; and special friends, Opal Howe and Douglas Claunch.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorain Randall Dawes, whom he married on February 24, 1951 in Somerset, and she preceded him on April 11, 1995; four sisters, Lucille Cundiff, Nancy Massey, Winona Harris and Betty Mounce; one grandson, James Brandon Casada; one great grandson, Parker Blake King.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

A second visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 10:00am until 2:00pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  His funeral service will follow on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2:00pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Jim McKinney and Bro. Corey Meggs officiating.  Burial will be at Tanner Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Glenn’s grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
