Freda Dalton, 89, of Somerset, KY, formerly of Clinton, IL, passed away on June 8, 2017 at UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY.

She was born on August 27, 1927 in Cains Store, KY to Cloyd M. and Edra (Wilson) Tarter. Freda attended Nancy High School in Nancy, KY and married Josh Dalton on January 31, 1945. They moved to Clinton, IL in the late 1940’s and farmed east of Clinton until 1974. They divorced in 1984.

Freda drove special needs students from Clinton to Bloomington for 30 years, taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church (where she was an active member) and was a member of the Clinton Roque Club. She lived in Clinton for 63 years before moving to Somerset, KY in 2009 to be near her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wilbur Tarter (and Jean); and Infant daughter, Elda Sue.

She is survived by her daughter Kasandra McNeil (and William); granddaughters, Maria McNeil and Daniela McNeil; her nephew, Russell Tarter (and Jan); and her grandniece and grandnephew, Teresa Tarter Popplewell and Mark Tarter, respectively.

Freda loved her Lord and she passionately loved Clinton, IL. Her faithful band of lady friends called her weekly and sent her newspaper clipping with all the latest news about the town she missed so much. The family appreciates their wonderful example of true friendship.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Rev. Amanda Musterman officiating. Burial will be in the Hopeful Cemetery in Nancy, KY.
