Denzel Denton Gaines, age 87, of Nancy, KY, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

Denzel was born on April 18, 1931 in Faubush, KY to the late Talmadge Gaines and Mamie Floyd Gaines.  He loved horses and Bluegrass music, and was known as the “Fiddle Man”.  He was a kind gentleman and was known throughout the county for his music and fiddle playing.  Denzel was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He was known by many and loved by all.  Denzel was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Marie Dye Gaines, whom he married on August 18, 1951 in Lawrenceburg, Ind.; one son, Marty Denton (and Janna) Gaines of Jabez; one daughter, Pamela (and Roy D.) Frye of Nancy; three grandchildren, Stacy Ledford, Kevin Frye and Tarah Gaines; five great-grandchildren, Samantha Ledford, David Ledford, Nathan Frye, Harper Haynes and Samuel Frye; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Delbert Gaines; and three sisters, Thelma Gaines, Delphie Cook and Edith Gaines.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Patrick Patterson and Bro. Clarence Floyd officiating.  Burial will be at Hudson-Weddle Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be David Dye, Roy Frye, Kevin Frye, Doc Barry Burkett, Buffy Guffey and Tyler Strunk.
