Betty Jane Alexander, age 84, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Landmark of Lancaster Rehabilitation and Nursing.

Betty was born on October 14, 1932 in Somerset, KY to the late Mason Silas Hail and Edith Flo Rogers Hail.  She was a 1952 graduate of Pulaski County High School.  Betty worked as a Teacher’s Aide in the Pulaski County School System and later at Watson’s Department Store.  She was a member of Clay Hill Baptist Church and also attended Pine Hill Baptist Church.  Betty loved to sew and make quilts for her grandchildren.  She enjoyed fishing with her husband and friends.  She was also an excellent cook and baker.

She is survived by her husband Lyman “Slick” Alexander, whom she married on February 27, 1954 in Roswell, GA; one daughter, Sharon Gail (and Robert) Brown of Campbellsville, KY; one son, Eddie (and Gina) Alexander of Danville, KY; five grandchildren, Casey (and Chip) Humphrey, Laura (and Joe) Hollenbach, Bailey Alexander, Mackenzie Alexander and Will Alexander; and four great grandchildren, Bryn Humphrey, Madeline Hollenbach, Jasper Humphrey and Heath Hollenbach.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Hail.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Don Branscum and Bro. Dewey Bradley officiating.  Burial will be in Clay Hill Cemetery.
