Allen Ray Gilmore, age 69, of Somerset, KY., departed this life on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Allen was born on July 14, 1948 in the Oakhill Community of Somerset, KY., to the late Cye and Nellie Fitzpatrick Gilmore. He was an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Missionary Church, where he accepted Christ. He loved to mow, spend time with his family, and help others as much as he could.

Along with his parents, Allen was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma G. Alexander and Ella Mae Aaron and two brothers, Hobert Fitzpatrick and Charles Gilmore.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, two brothers, George Gilmore Sr. and Clyde Gilmore, both of Somerset, KY; three sisters, Nancy Luster of Pennsylvania; Viola Aldrige of Pennsylvania; and Geri Smith of California, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Allen was a man who didn’t have a lot, but gave the most.

His visitation will be on Monday, February 19, 2018 after 6:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will be on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Rev. Seibert Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
